Volunteer Engagement Intern
The Charles River Cleanup is key to the mission of CRWA: to protect, enhance, and restore the Charles River and its watershed. This is our only trash-focused cleanup event of the year, which we coordinate with four other organizations within the watershed. This event mobilizes over 3,000 volunteers throughout the 300-square-mile watershed to focus on river stewardship, including both residents and corporate sponsors. This support is critical for raising awareness about CRWA and our work, and fundraising to support this and other programs. The intern would be a critical member of the team working to ensure a high level of success before, during, and after the event.
The Volunteer Engagement Intern will support CRWA in planning and implementing its annual Charles River Cleanup event, which engages over 500 volunteers each Earth Day in picking up trash from the banks and parklands around the Charles River. Tasks will include emailing with volunteers, obtaining and organizing materials for the event, reaching out to local businesses for sponsorships or in-kind donations, and providing on-site support for the event. They will also have the opportunity to work on the implementation and planning of our Herring Count and Invasive Species Removal programs.
