Recruitment Range: $41,655 - $72,897
Salary Grade: NC10

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Complaint Administrator is responsible for managing and monitoring the complaint programs related to manufactured and modular housing. This position serves as the first point of contact for consumers, ensuring timely and accurate intake, documentation, and resolution of complaints. The role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and supports field operations and audits.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Management Preferences:

  • Strong analytical, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and consumer protection practices, preferably in the manufactured and modular housing industry.
  • Proficiency in database management and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and stay overnight when required.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive, review, and respond to citizen complaints and inquiries related to manufactured housing.
  • Ensure all complaints are documented, tracked, and resolved in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist consumers with filing online complaints and ensure all relevant information is uploaded to the complaint database.
  • Coordinate with field inspectors to schedule inspections and generate notices for all involved parties.
  • Accompany field inspectors on inspections as needed, which may require occasional travel and overnight stays.
  • Generate and distribute Dealer Lot Inspection and HUD 302 reports to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support Manufacturer Subpart I audits and collaborate with Code Consultants on formal investigations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the division’s mission.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
