Documentary Production Intern

 

Seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, creative, responsible Documentary Production Intern to support the development and production of a feature-length documentary film about a music festival. This role is ideal for someone passionate about nonfiction storytelling, research, media, culture, and social impact — someone who is excited to learn how a documentary gets made from the earliest concept phase through active production, and someone interested (and experienced) in marketing, fundraising, researching, and generally contributing to all aspects of the pre-production and production phases.

This internship is hands-on. You won’t just observe — you’ll contribute directly to the creative, business, and logistical foundations of the film.

Responsibilities will include:
 

Pre-Production / Development Support

Conduct in-depth research (subjects, story leads, cultural context, historical references, press coverage)

Organize, track, and maintain project documents, timelines, notes, and databases

Support outreach to subjects, partners, nonprofits, communities, etc.

Assist in building and updating pitch decks, treatments, one-pagers, and creative reference materials

Support fundraising coordination (grant research, donor lists, outreach tracking)

Maintain research logs and archival sourcing documentation

Assist with PR support (press tracking, contact lists, simple media summaries)

Support social media build-out 
 

Production / Content Support

Source archival materials 

Log and organize footage and transcripts

Tag interviews and help maintain editorial databases 

 

General

Regular check-ins with the producer / director and team

Provide administrative + creative support wherever needed


You Should Be:

Story-obsessed, curious, and persistent

Strong & tenacious researcher 

Extremely organized 

Comfortable working independently between check-ins

Editing experience is a plus

Work will begin ASAP with primary shoot dates in June. All pre-production can all be done remotely.  Additional details about the project will be shared with selected candidates.
