Food & Beverage Intern

The Club's internationally renowned East Course is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation and No. 12 in the world. The East Course has hosted more USGA championships than any other golf course in America, and is home to some of history's greatest golf moments. Although Merion is known for its golf courses, the Club staff takes pride in providing excellence in all dining experiences for Merion's 1,000-plus members and guests. Championship History: Golf is central to Merion's history, and the Club has hosted 18 USGA championships. Merion Golf Club is proud to be the future host of the 2026 U.S. Amateur, 2030 U.S. Open, 2034 U.S. Women's Open, 2046 U.S. Women's Open, and 2050 U.S. Open.

 

Position Description:

 1. Learn the roles of each Front of House position in the Restaurant including: Busser, Food Runner, Expediter, Server, Halfway House Attendant, Bartender, Banquet Server. 

2. Assist in the daily food and beverage operations in each position. 

3. Perform set-up and breakdown of service areas in server stations, kitchen, and dining rooms. 

4. Maintain knowledge of all menus including drink/wine menus, item pronunciation, and how all items are prepared. 

5. Be readily accessible and attentive to members at all times. 

6. Maintain a high level of safety and cleanliness. 

7. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. 

8. Keep service areas in an orderly fashion at all times. 

9. Participate in “all-intern” educational sessions. 

10. Maintain proper uniform standards. 

11. Learn the basics of bartending 

12. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

 

Exposure to see first hand additional Food & Beverage Responsibilities (including but not limited to) 

1. Beverage Inventory 

2. Beverage Consumption Tracking 

3. Sitting in on Interviews & learning about hiring/onboarding process 

4. Attend BEO Meeting with Management

5. Staff Scheduling 

6. Golf Cart Training
