DESCRIPTION
HWS Recreation Intramural Sports Program
The purpose of HWS Recreation Intramural Sports Program is to provide a safe, fun, and inclusive recreational outlet for participants. In addition, these services look to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy competition, and active lifestyles.
Intramural Referee Position:
Position Overview: Intramural Sports Program Coordinators & Sport Officials assist the HWS Recreation Department in upholding a safe, fun, and inclusive recreational outlet for program participants. In addition, this position helps to promote & facilitate sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Officiate intramural events, games, and tournaments.
- Oversee the health & safety of all program participants and ensure assigned games are running efficiently and effectively. This includes confidently enforcing league/tournament rules and sportsmanship like behavior.
- Assists with implementing HWS Recreation’s Intramural Sports Program policies and procedures and department emergency protocols
- Attend mandatory meetings and training courses.
- Assists Intramural Coordinator’s with tasks associated with setting up and taking down of sport league/tournaments and playing surfaces.
- Assists with the organization and cleanliness of intramural sports equipment inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Availability to work 6 to 8 hours per week between the times of 5-10 pm on Monday-Thursday & Sundays or time necessary in accordance with HWS Recreation’s Intramural Sports league/tournament schedule.
- Physically must able to lift objects weighing a maximum of 50lbs
- Attentiveness to detail, good time management and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn, grow as a leader, work through conflict, and be a part of a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
- Come to the facility regularly and/or participation in multiple Intramural Events.
- Knowledge of the sports they are potentially working (preferred previously played or officiated)
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Our application process usually starts in December and concludes by February 14th every year to hire for the following year. Students must apply via handshake as well as filling out the attached Microsoft application form using the link below. Review of applications will start immediately if we need people for Fall semester and/or Winter Break, otherwise review will take place on a rolling basis, and students will be invited to interview starting in late January to early February.
