Intramural Coordinator

Position Title: Intramural Coordinator

Semester/Year: 2026/2027 Academic Year

Total Positions Available: 1-3

Supervisor: Deven Siesel 

Pay Rate: $16.00

Hours Per Week: 4-8 pending on the week and projects we have

Start Date: August 2026

End Date: May 22, 2027

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Intramural Sports Program Coordinator assists the HWS Recreation Department in upholding a safe, fun, and inclusive recreational outlet for program participants. In addition, this position helps to promote & facilitate sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the health & safety of all program participants and ensures assigned games are running efficiently and effectively. This include confidently enforcing league/tournament rules and sportsmanship like behavior 
  • Assists with implementing HWS Recreation’s Intramural Sports Program policies and procedures and department emergency protocols
  • Attends mandatory meetings and trainings
  • Help manage IM Leagues software program, create league & tournament schedules, and send out updates and game day reminders to participants
  • Manages IM Leagues App to check-in players on game day and upload final scores & sportsmanship ratings
  • Responsible for tasks associated with setting up and taking down of sport league/tournaments, and playing surfaces
  • Ensures games start on time and games run efficiently 
  • Assists with the organization and cleanliness of intramural sports equipment inventory
  • Assists with promoting of sports leagues and tournaments 
  • Assists with the facilitation of program assessments and evaluations 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Availability to work a minimum of 2 to 4 weekly schedule shifts (4 to 10 hours per week) including weekends (applicants for position in the summer, 4 to 5 weekly schedule shifts, 15 to 25 hours per week, including weekend)
  • Physically must able to lift objects weighing a maximum of 50lbs
  • An “I can” & “teamwork” attitude/mindset
  • Attentiveness to detail, good time management and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn, develop leadership capabilities, and work through conflict.
  • Customer Service oriented.
  • Familiarity with campus recreation, and a gym atmosphere.
  • Good time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
  • Come to the facility regularly and/or participation in multiple Intramural Events.
  • Knowledge of the sports they are potentially working (preferred previously played or officiated)

Our application process usually starts in December and concludes by February 14th every year to hire for the following year. Students must apply via handshake as well as filling out the attached Microsoft application form using the link below.  Review of applications will start immediately if we need people for Fall semester and/or Winter Break, otherwise review will take place on a rolling basis and students will be invited to interview starting in late January to early February.
