Government Relations Associate – Brooks Bawden Moore, LLC
Brooks Bawden Moore, LLC (BBM) is a fast-paced government relations firm based in downtown DC at the leading edge of justice, public safety, law enforcement, emergency response, and homeland security issues. We are seeking a Government Relations Associate to support our policy work on behalf of professional associations, non-profits, and corporate clients.
Individuals with 1-3 years of experience serving on Capitol Hill, in professional associations, with advocacy organizations, or in lobbying/legislative affairs are encouraged to apply. We’re looking for a skilled researcher, excellent communicator, and organized multi-tasker. We value team members who prioritize collaboration and building a broad network of relationships.
The Government Relations Associate will report to the Partner in charge of policy engagement and will perform the following job tasks:
- Conduct legislative and policy research and develop summaries for internal and external audiences;
- Monitor and develop summaries of committee hearings, newsmaker events, and legislative developments in Congress;
- Assist in the development and execution of legislative and public messaging strategies;
- Schedule and attend meetings on Capitol Hill, with executive branch agencies, and with stakeholder groups;
- Draft congressional testimonies, talking points, and blog posts;
- Monitor and summarize federal agency regulatory activity;
- Work collaboratively and proactively on job tasks to achieve objectives in client work plans;
- Provide administrative and logistical support for event planning and event management, principal scheduling, and travel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience
- Exceptional research and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- High level of professionalism and desire to learn

Work Location:
- BBM follows an office-first hybrid work model. Our office is one block from Metro Center adjacent to City Center in downtown Washington, DC.
- Occasional overnight travel related to client work may be required, and occasional after-hours networking events should be expected.
