What You Will Do
Are you ready for the challenges and rewards of an internship with Carroll County Government? The Carroll County Planning & Land Management Department is looking for a highly motivated, diligent, and organized intern to assist daily review of bills introduced, tracking and monitoring of relevant bills, and identifying potential impacts to the functions of the department during the Maryland General Assembly’s legislative session.
Essential Duties
- Assist with daily review of bills introduced during the Maryland General Assembly legislative session to identify bills that are relevant to or may impact functions of the Planning & Land Management (PLM) Department.
 - Enter information from relevant bills in tracking table.
 - Research potential fiscal, operational, and other relevant impacts of proposed bills related to PLM functions.
 - Assist in coordination with relevant PLM managers and staff to request review and comments on proposed bills.
 - Coordinate with Special Projects Coordinator for direction on potential actions to take related to proposed bills.
 - Assist with tracking and monitoring progress of proposed bills and any amendments to those bills.
 - Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
 - Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.

Additional Information
- Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
 - This internship is a Spring placement, which will run from January/February to April/May, or as agreed upon by the manager and intern.
 - Contractual Position: up to 20 hours per week.
