Petroleum Research Intern
The primary purpose of this role is to introduce students to technical industry writing and presenting. Students will be given the opportunity to publish scientific posters for technical conferences and publish papers for established scientific journals and petroleum news outlets. The candidate must exhibit strong written and oral communication skills, as the position will require constant communication between the supervisor.
This role is unpaid, but is eligible for EXP+ & WSE practicum credits. This job will start as soon as the candidate is available and will continue indefinitely.
Requirements:
- Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or adjacent fields of study
- Enthusiastic interest in petroleum research test techniques
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once (ability to multitask)
- Shows proficient writing skills, including but not limited to: excellent grammar, awareness of style, attention to detail, and ability to research
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Fluency in the English language
- Individual writing and PowerPoint samples must be provided
- Availability to work 5-10 hours per week
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Weekly updates with Koehler Technical Applications Team
- Completion of one assignment per month
- Present one completed poster every quarter to the Koehler Technical Applications Team
- Research trends in the marketplace in the petroleum and petrochemical testing industry
- Peer review of papers written by fellow Koehler Research Interns
- Other responsibilities as assigned
