Guest Experience Spring 2026 Internship with the Palm Beach Zoo managed by the FAU WLW-ECOS Program

Please note: this is not an on-campus job opportunity. This position involves interning with The Palm Beach Zoo and following their guidelines for work location. Funding for this program is provided through FAU's School of Environmental, Coastal and Ocean Sustainability (WLW-ECOS).

About the Palm Beach Zoo

The mission of the Palm Beach Zoo is to inspire people to act on behalf of wildlife and the natural world. They achieve this by providing a space for guests to connect with animals and learn about conservation, supporting conservation programs in the field, and advancing their mission through endangered species propagation and education. The zoo aims to save wildlife in wild places and protect wild counterparts of the animals they house through their daily operations and visitor experiences. 

Guest Experience Internship Description:

  • Perform exhibit talks as scheduled and assigned
  • Initiate informal talks and encounters 
  • Participate in educational programs as assigned 
  • Take part in research, document and present information when opportunities are available

Eligibility

Conditions of eligibility for the FAU WLW-ECOS paid internships:

  • Must be in good academic standing 
  • Must be a Junior or Senior enrolled in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science 
  • Must be a degree-seeking, full-time student during the semester of the internship.  
  • Must be able to work up to 20 hours per week (or more with proper authorization).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or have provided the FAU Career Center with a signed document from your guardian allowing participation in an internship.
  • Must be available to participate in the internship from January 2026 to May 2026


Application documents required:

  1. Resume
  2. An essay that addresses the following two topics (max 1,000 words total):
    1. The impact you would like to make in your career (max 500 words)
    2. An obstacle and how you overcame it (max 500 words)
    3. Your completed environmental science coursework and relevant volunteer, research, and/or work experience  

 

Please note:  

  1. Students selected for this internship, must register their internship for 0 credit or academic credit with Florida Atlantic University.
  2. Final candidate will need to have a letter of recommendation from a faculty member. You will be assigned an FAU faculty mentor who can help you with this requirement.
