Forest Operations Intern
Purpose
This internship focuses on forest operations offering hands-on experience in both field and office engineering for logging roads and harvest units. Interns will be involved in duties such as road location and design, defining harvest unit boundaries, conducting perennial stream surveys, and producing GIS generated mapping.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist team members in field work
- Layout of harvest unit boundaries, including RMA establishment and Leave Tree designations with understanding of Logging Systems and the Oregon Forest Practices Act and Private Forrest Accord Laws
- Perennial Stream Surveys
- FRIA Road & Culvert Inventory
- Road Layout and Staking
- ArcGIS Map Making
- Work safely in crew environment
- Model Company core values
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Forest Management, Forest Operations Management, Forest Engineering, or Natural Resources Major and actively enrolled as a returning student.
- Familiarity with the Oregon Forest Practices Act and has a general understanding of forest operations
- A valid driver’s license, good driving history & experience with 4WD trucks
- Working knowledge of GIS, Word Processing and spreadsheet computer programs
- Be safety conscience in all aspects of job
- Physically capable of working productively on steep and adverse terrain in all weather conditions
- Highly organized, self motivated team player that fosters a positive work environment
- Must be a self starter with ability to work independently or with a crew in forest environment
Dates of employment:
June 2026 through September 2026 (dates can be flexible to accommodate school schedules)
Wage:
This is an hourly position with a wage commensurate with experience. This is a temporary position and does not qualify for benefits.
