Lead Gardening Instructor - Grades K-3
Position Overview
We’re looking for a passionate and dependable Gardening Instructor to lead hands-on enrichment classes for elementary students. In this role, you’ll guide young learners through fun, interactive lessons about plant life, soil, and sustainability — helping them develop curiosity, responsibility, and a love for nature.
Grade Levels: K–3
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Approximately 5 hours per week
Pay Rate: $35/hour
Term: Spring 2026 | Begins 1st Week of January
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, age-appropriate gardening lessons using a prepared curriculum and materials.
- Introduce students to planting, soil care, composting, and garden maintenance.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage environmental awareness and teamwork through hands-on activities.
- Set up and clean up class materials before and after sessions.
- Communicate with the Program Coordinator regarding attendance, scheduling, and supplies.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in classroom, camp, or enrichment settings.
- Basic knowledge of gardening, plant care, or environmental science.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Reliable, organized, and enthusiastic about outdoor learning.
- Background in education, horticulture, or sustainability programs is a plus.
