Position Summary
The Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering and Technology (MMET) at Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) is seeking applications for Postdoctoral Research Associate position. This is a 12-month staff position at Oregon Tech’s Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research & Development (OMIC R&D) with a possibility of extension to multiple years subject to performance satisfactory and funding availability.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research related to additive manufacturing process development and mechanical characteristics studies. They will also be expected to develop an independent research agenda related to this topic. Duties include gathering, managing, analyzing, and reporting data in accordance with project goals, contributing to the dissemination of research findings, submitting funding proposals, and participating in long-term research planning.

Additional Requirements
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis at the time of hire. This position does not offer visa sponsorship or other employment-based immigration support, now or in the future.
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering.
- Experience in additive manufacturing engineering with emphasis on process development and optimizations.
- Highly proficient in technical writing and presentation.
- Knowledge in mechanical behavior of materials in sold-state joining.
- Experience in microstructure characterization.
- Experience with 3D modeling and CAD-CAM software.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, ensuring ethical conduct of research, meeting timelines, and delivering high-quality results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cold-spray additive manufacturing.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with industry partners.
- Willingness to mentor and tech research assistant students.
