Materials R&D Co-op

Green hydrogen plays an essential role towards our net-zero mission. Hydrogen has widespread industrial and transport applications.  Conventional hydrogen production from fossil fuels is accompanied by the release of large quantities of carbon dioxide. Our innovative technologies use renewable energy and water to produce green hydrogen with zero emission.  We aspire to improve efficiency, reduce the cost, and scale the manufacturing to meet the booming green hydrogen market.     

 

We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Co-op to join our H2 Center of Excellence (COE) in Burlington, MA. You will engage and contribute to cutting edge technology which will be integral in a greener world. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform nanomaterial synthesis and coating experiments, and process optimization for achieving target properties
  • Develop material characterization protocols and collect data 
  • Assist in literature research and materials acquisition to support product development
  • Interface with electrode testing team for electrochemical performance and reporting 
  • Keep scientific records and prepare detailed reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet project goals
  • Rigorously implement safety measures pertaining to chemical storage, handling and waste management
  • Maintain laboratory including organizing materials and supplies, lab housekeeping and maintaining equipment
  • Ability to interact with vendors and other stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

  • Have completed or is currently pursuing a BS, MS or PhD in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, nanotechnology or related field
  • Experience with coating, wet chemistry, material synthesis, nanomaterials handling and electrochemistry
  • Hands-on experience on material characterization (SEM/EDS, optical microscope, XPS, XRD, XRF, adsorption studies, etc.)
  • Highly motivated with mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability
  • Ability to accomplish assigned tasks with little or no supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
