Job Description

Manage and monitor the Capital Outlay Consultant Program and Capital Outlay and Maintenance Reserve projects.
 


How you will contribute:

  • Construction Documents: Manage and coordinate the construction documents review procedure with VDOT and other agencies.
  • Non-Capital Projects: Manage administrative, scheduling, operational, and programming activities for VDOT's non-capital building projects.
  • Program Management: Manage administrative, budgeting, scheduling, operational and programming activities of VDOT's Capital Outlay Program. Manage administrative aspects of design, preparation of bid documents, construction and project close-out for VDOT's Capital Outlay Program.

  • Ability to gather and interpret data, reach logical conclusions and present findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to manage and administer the design and construction of building facilities.
  • Ability to plan and direct major construction projects.
  • Knowledge of architecture and civil engineering principles and practices related to building construction.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and practices related to capital outlay management.
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual, Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and other codes used in building design and construction.
  • Skill in analyzing how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Skill in the use of computers and web based applications including AutoCAD.

 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Progressively responsible experience managing, administering the design and construction of building facilities.
  • Skill in identifying complex problems, reviewing related information to develop, evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Skill in the use of computers and web based applications including AutoCAD.

 


Additional Considerations:

  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Architecture or related field desired.
  • AutoCAD computer software experience.
  • Experience managing administration of capital outlay programs.
  • Valid Architect License.
