Floating Instructor
The Floating Instructor will float between our Digiskills program and our Life N Tech program to assist the current Adult Disability and Adult Day instructor. They will be responsible for instructing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities on how to gain online skills using our web-based curriculum, including soft-skills, communication skills, social skills, and holding group sessions on various job and life skills topics. They must exhibit teamwork, a positive attitude, and dedication.
Instructors must be web/computer savvy and communicate effectively with individuals and their families.
Hours:
- Part-time position, 3 days per week.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (8-3)
Compensation:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (8-3)
17-18 per hour (depending on experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Instruct, supervise, coach, and assist individuals in the development of social skills, digital literacy, and soft skills in accordance with the ISP or IEP, and assigned curriculum.
- Collaborate with the program manager and the team to coordinate instructional activities to enhance learning and achievement; provide recommendations concerning methods, plans, and strategies for enhancing opportunities for participants.
- Complete daily documentation on an individual’s progress, incident reports, or other required forms or logs as assigned.
- Complete assessments of all incoming participants.
- Work with staff to monitor behavioral patterns
- Ensure the environment is safe, clean, productive, comfortable, and stimulating.
- Provide continuous supervision of assigned individuals and know their whereabouts at all times.
- Transport individuals using either the company vehicle or personal vehicle to community outings or to group volunteer and/or work sites.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Program Manager to meet the particular needs of the participants.
Qualificaions:
- Must have working knowledge of Google Suite and Gmail and how to access and use a computer and the internet.
- Must have some working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective in-person, written, and oral communication skills.
- Must have strong presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to move between both programs
- Understand that each day’s tasks could be very different.
- Maintain a high level of dependability.
- Must be able to think quickly and clearly and have a high level of problem-solving skills.
- Willingness for ongoing professional development that supports program success.
- Must be able to offer empathy, and compassion while working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Have the ability to be direct, yet understanding and patient with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Must have a clean background
- A valid driver’s license with fewer than 6 points in the last 2 years on your record.
Required Education / Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or higher education.
- At least 1 year of working with students or adults with developmental disabilities.
- Facilitation and leadership experience are desirable but not required.
- Strong interest in working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with social/emotional/behavioral needs.
