Operations Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Operations Specialist to join our growing New York team. This position plays an important role in the coordination of inbound ocean and air freight shipments, ensuring containers are efficiently tracked, scheduled, and delivered to final destinations without delays or additional costs.

You will serve as the main operational point of contact between receivers, vendors, clients, and internal teams, ensuring a smooth and proactive flow of communication throughout each shipment’s journey.

As part of an international logistics group, you will be exposed to global markets and operations, collaborating with partners and clients across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track inbound containers arriving in U.S. ports.
  • Communicate daily with receivers, vendors, clients, and steamship lines to coordinate pick up and deliveries.
  • Follow up on each shipment’s progress to anticipate and resolve potential delays.
  • Take proactive measures to avoid extra costs (e.g., demurrage, detention, or storage fees).
  • Maintain accurate updates in internal tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and management to ensure smooth execution of all operations.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in freight forwarding, customer service, operations, and logistics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive under time pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with logistics systems or tracking tools is a plus.
