Art Show & Gallery Assistant
Job Description
We are a contemporary art gallery specializing in high-end, curated shows and pop-up exhibitions in St. Petersburg and beyond. We seek a creative, detail-oriented, and professional Art Show & Gallery Assistant from USF St. Petersburg to support exhibition production, digital marketing, and client engagement.
This is a for-credit internship (IDS 3947 eligible) ideal for juniors/seniors in Graphic Arts, Art History, Visual Arts, or Marketing seeking real-world experience in the commercial art world — with exclusive access to national art fairs.
Key Responsibilities:

Social Media & Digital Content
- Design high-impact Instagram, TikTok, and email graphics using Canva
- Create reels, stories, and event teasers for luxury pop-up shows (required)
- Schedule and manage posts, engage with collectors and influencers

Website & Online Presence
- Update event pages, artist bios, and inventory on Wix
- Maintain a sleek, mobile-optimized, luxury aesthetic across platforms
- Updated art inventory using Art Galleria software (can train)

Exhibition Production & Installation
- Assist with art handling, packing, and secure transport (training provided)
- Set up and strike luxury pop-up galleries (lighting, signage, pedestals)
- Install 2D/3D works with precision (leveling, labeling, condition reports)

Sales & Client Experience
- Greet VIPs, assist in gallery tours, and field inquiries with professionalism
- Support sales: price lists, invoices, follow-ups (training provided)
- Represent the gallery with polished, friendly, and punctual demeanor

Event Support
- Help execute VIP previews, artist talks, and opening receptions
- Manage guest lists, check-ins, and post-event breakdown
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Current USF St. Petersburg student (junior/senior preferred)
- 21+ years old (required for events with alcohol service)
- Proficiency in Canva (portfolio/examples required)
- Experience with Wix (basic HTML/CSS a plus)
- Comfortable with physical art handling (lifting up to 30 lbs)
- Punctual, reliable, and client-ready — this is a high-visibility role
- Strong communication and passion for contemporary art
- Availability for evenings/weekends (schedule given 2 weeks in advance)
Bonus (Not Required):
- Photography/videography (iPhone acceptable)
- Sales or hospitality experience
- Familiarity with Agile, Klavio

Compensation Structure:
- First 60 days: Unpaid trial (hands-on training, national fair access, credit-eligible)
- After 60 days: $15/hr (first 6 months)
- Every 6 months: Formal review → potential raise (based on initiative, reliability, and results)
