Licensing Coordinator

Campus Services | Licensing Coordinator | Part Time

 

The Licensing Coordinator will support the Director of Licensing and Contract Services with management of the Trademark and Licensing Program by assisting with review of portal submissions for the approval, denial or revision to proposed emblematic merchandise. The Licensing Coordinator will assist in communications with licensees, customers and other University employees, and in shepherding inquiries regarding licensee applications. The Licensing Coordinator will also assist in maintaining and updating the Licensing website and Guidelines, and Brand Guide. The Licensing Coordinator will work closely with the Licensing Director and the University Bookstore staff to monitor the retail merchandise for accuracy and approvals.

Compensation: $30 Per Hour

Special Note: Current Columbia Students (Graduate or Undergraduate) are not eligible for this role. 

 

The successful candidate will have a critical eye and a strong capacity for noticing detail.

 

Responsibilities

Develop a thorough understanding of University Guidelines for the use of the University’s name and other marks on merchandise made for internal use and sale at retail.

Check all licensor portals periodically throughout the day for licensee submissions, and enter comments/revisions/approvals, consulting with Director of Licensing as necessary.

Follow up with inquiries regarding revisions to concepts and merchandise as necessary.

Check and react to pertinent e-mails as necessary.

Assist with responding to licensee application inquiries.

Assist with managing and updating the trademark and licensing Brand Guide and website.

Monitor merchandise selection at retail outlets, including the University Bookstore, to ensure appropriate merchandise is carried and displayed properly.

Help manage processes for enforcement against the illegal use of trademarks, logos and insignia.

Help implement use of new trademarks from the University departments and campuses.

Assist with collecting and analyzing sales data as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• 2-3 years’ experience in licensing, merchandising, buying/planning, sales or legal preferred.

• Strong communication skills required, and must be highly organized and detail-oriented.

• Must be proficient in Licensing portals Workspace, Mediabox and Brand Manager, or willing to become

proficient.

• Proficient in Word and Excel
