Agronomist – Seed Sales and Emerging Technologies

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Agronomist to lead seed sales and agronomic support across multiple crop types. The ideal candidate will combine technical agronomy expertise with strong sales and relationship-building skills to grow market share, support producers, and promote top-performing seed products throughout the region. This role also offers an exciting opportunity to integrate drone technology into agronomic practices, including drone piloting, spraying, and potential drone sales, to enhance precision agriculture services and provide added value to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive sales of seed products within an assigned territory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with growers, dealers, and cooperatives.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend hybrids, varieties, or blends suited to local growing conditions and production goals.
  • Plan and execute marketing programs, on-farm trials, and field days to increase product visibility and sales.
  • Achieve or exceed annual sales and profitability targets.
  • Promote and sell agricultural drone systems for crop scouting, spraying, stand counts, and field mapping to enhance customer productivity and decision-making.

Agronomy & Technical Support

  • Provide expert agronomic advice to customers and sales teams regarding seed selection, planting rates, fertility, pest management, and harvest timing.
  • Monitor field conditions and deliver timely recommendations to optimize yield potential.
  • Evaluate and communicate product performance data to customers and management.
  • Support research plots and demonstration sites to assess new genetics and management practices.
  • Operate and demonstrate drones for crop imaging, spraying, data collection, and field scouting as part of precision agriculture services.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to growers throughout the production season.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to evaluate product performance and ensure satisfaction.
  • Work collaboratively with product development and technical service teams to address customer challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide customer training and support for drone-based crop monitoring, spraying and data interpretation.

Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, customer records, and agronomic observations in CRM systems.
  • Provide regular updates on market trends, territory performance, and competitive activity.
  • Utilize drone imagery and agronomic data to generate field insights and visual reports.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Business, or related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in agronomy, seed sales, or crop consulting preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of crop production, soil fertility, pest management, and precision agriculture.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, proven success in sales or business development, familiarity with drone technology, mapping software, and data interpretation preferred, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) or equivalent credential.
  • Part 107 drone pilot certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with regional seed markets and dealer networks.
  • Familiarity with agricultural software, precision ag systems, and yield analysis tools.
  • Private pesticide applicator's license (or willingness to obtain).
  • CDL (or willingness to obtain).
