Biosensor Intern (Chemistry / Molecular Biology)

About this role:
We are seeking summer interns who are passionate about improving human health and working on our cutting-edge biosensor platform. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced startup environment and to help shape the technology, strategy, and culture of our company. As a molecular biology/chemistry intern you will play an active role in the development and optimization of assays related to the generation, synthesis, and characterization of our biosensors. Through these activities you will have the opportunity to learn and leverage a wide variety of laboratory skills and techniques to drive forward our core biosensor technology.
Individuals applying for this position must be driven, passionate, detail-oriented self-starters who will thrive in an exciting and fast-paced startup environment. Successful candidates will excel at working in interdisciplinary teams and managing multiple projects and priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and analyze chemistry and molecular biology laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior researchers
- Write and maintain detailed laboratory records
- Help perform general lab duties (e.g., instrument maintenance, reagent preparation and inventory)
- Participate in and present key findings at group meetings
- Collaborate with a highly interdisciplinary team to execute challenging new projects
Required qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate study in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering, or closely related fields
- Experience with common wet-lab techniques (e.g., pipetting, weighing, buffer preparation, etc.)
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize projects in order to meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects within a dynamic biotech startup environment
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with common molecular biology techniques (e.g., gel electrophoresis, PCR, biomolecule conjugation and purification, HPLC, ELISA and other binding assays).
- Experience analyzing and visualizing scientific data, especially using python
- Research experience in an academic lab
