Cell Biology Technician

 

Longevity Biotech is a Philadelphia-based biotechnology innovator specializing in immune therapeutics and diagnostics targeting neurodegenerative disease. Our platforms are research-driven by innovators in our Philadelphia R&D laboratory where we are currently hiring for a Cell Biology Technician to contribute to our clinical research team. 

 

Longevity Biotech is looking for skilled cell and molecular biology lab technical workers who can contribute to a growing clinical team who will uncover new immune-centric biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease diagnosis. This position is primarily wet-lab based and could involve the processing of human blood samples, isolation and purification of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), human cell culture, immunolabeling and flow cytometry analysis. Candidates should be familiar with and proficient at these techniques. Candidates would work closely with other scientists and upper management within Longevity Biotech as well as with our external partners.  This role is clinically focused. It is important that the candidate is detail-oriented and comfortable in a regulated clinical laboratory setting.  Longevity Biotech has the expectation that candidates will produce high-quality results and contribute towards the overall mission of addressing neurodegenerative disease diagnosis.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Secure participant clinical trial samples and health information from our clinical partners while following IRB-approved protocols and documentation procedures.
  • Perform immune cell isolation techniques under sterile conditions according to company SOPs (isolate PBMCs, T cells, monocytes).
  • Cell culture and immunolabeling of clinical samples.
  • Perform protein, DNA or RNA extraction of collected clinical samples. 
  • Preparation of samples for flow cytometry using modern techniques compatible with spectral flow cytometry platform.
  • Perform downstream assays on extracted clinical material including qPCR and ELISA. 
  • Sample data processing, reporting and clinical record-keeping. 
  • Prepare reports based on experimental results for internal company use.

 

Preferred Skills and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, bioengineering, biochemistry or equivalent is required. A master’s degree in the relevant field is preferred.
  • 3+ years previous laboratory experience.
    • Experience in handling and processing human blood samples is preferred.
    • Previous experience working in a regulated environment (GLP, clinical or similar setting).
    • Previous work with standard molecular biology techniques such as ELISA and PCR.
    • Excellent sterile cell culture technique and experience with human cell culture. 
  • Ability to follow a defined workflow process while providing routine feedback.
  • Close attention to details.
