Communications, Marketing, and Engagement Coordinator
Tapestry Folkdance Center is seeking a half-time (16-20 hours per week), Communications, Marketing, and Engagement Coordinator to assist with the organization’s external communications, social media, and outreach efforts. The role will report directly to Tapestry’s Executive Director, and work closely with Tapestry’s Program Advisory Committee and Program Steering Committees, who are responsible for the planning and execution of Tapestry dance programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing Tapestry’s primary external communication channels - including website updates (Squarespace, email marketing (Neon One), and social media (Facebook and Instagram)
- Build relationships with the volunteer committees of all Tapestry programs and special event workshop weekends to create and implement marketing and outreach strategies for each of them
- Monthly and quarterly e-newsletters
- Manage the creation, posting, and mailing of any printed materials or signage
- Help oversee Tapestry’s general information /customer service email (staff@tapestryfolkdance.org) and phone line
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, assist with ongoing Tapestry marketing, communication, and outreach strategies
- Monitor and provide reports on website and social media analytics, and other marketing and communication goals set in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Identify and build relationships with potential community partners - for marketing, promotion and sponsorship opportunities, as well as potential collaborations, new programmatic offerings, and other ways Tapestry could utilize its resources and internal offerings to better serve the broader Twin Cities community, expanding outreach and engagement
- Build, organize, and maintain Tapestry’s visual asset library
- Attend each Tapestry program dance at least once a quarter to build relationships, gather photo/video, and maintain familiarity with each program’s style and event flow
- Work with outside vendors and printers for marketing or event support
- Develop and implement strategic marketing plan collateral to support annual special events and fundraising campaigns
- Help maintain internal Google Events calendar, as well as submitting events to external community calendars
- Function as part of a small staff team that often picks up other projects or tasks to support one another serving and advancing Tapestry’s mission
To be Successful, a Candidate should:
- Be Technologically savvy, with the ability to learn new platforms quickly
- Have experience with and understanding of social media management, google analytics, web editing, email marketing, and Google Workspace
- Have a strong understanding of graphic design principles and be able to design branded materials on relatively quick timelines. Photography, and/or videography experience would be a plus
- Be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment where priorities can change quickly
- Be highly self-directed and motivated, while able to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Possess strong interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills
- Have a clear and thoughtful verbal and written communication style
- Be a good listener and creative thinker
- Be passionate about building mutually beneficial relationships and meaningful outreach strategies

Work will be hybrid and fairly flexible, with at least Wednesdays in office each week to coincide with other staff, and occasional evenings/weekends to attend Tapestry program dances and events. Pay to range between $23-26/hour depending on experience and qualifications, with additional PTO, holiday, and sick time benefits.
