Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland (BBBSGC) is committed to promoting the healthy development of children through the nurturing of continuing, one-to-one friendships with caring responsible mentors, supported by trained professional staff. Our BBBSGC internships provide a unique opportunity to gain knowledge of how a nonprofit agency works and operates, as well as tangible learning, knowledge and professional skills experience by working within different functions at our agency. 

 

Role Summary 

The Communications & Data Intern will work alongside the Development Manager and the CEO & President and be responsible for a variety of facets of marketing and database management. At the end of the internship, the C & D Intern will have gained experience in areas such as content creation, event marketing, content calendar management, database management, and more! 

 

Communications Responsibilities (8 hours a week) 

Designing and executing social media graphics to share across social channels utilizing brand colors, fonts, and language 

Assisting in managing and maintaining social media content calendars 

Brainstorm and research ideas for original content 

Develop new strategies for increasing engagement 

Interviewing local Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and family members in the program for potential stories 

Participating in discussions around marketing communications and strategies 

 

Data Responsibilities (2-4 hours a week) 

Update and organize targeted email lists (Bigs, community partners, etc.) for efficient communications 

Maintain consistent new data entry into Constant Contact 

 

Qualifications 

Current college student  

Availability to work remotely ~10 hours a week  

Personal computer with internet access (no hardware provided) 

Familiarity with Microsoft Office and design software such as Canva 

Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment 

Enthusiasm, creativity, a positive sense of humor, and a “can do” attitude
