Education Abroad First-Year Peer Advisor
EDUCATION ABROAD – FIRST-YEAR PEER ADVISOR
The Colorado State University Office of International Programs seeks applicants for the position of Education Abroad First-Year Peer Advisor.
Peer Advisors contribute to CSU International Programs - Education Abroad (EA) through outreach support, administrative support and as front-line education abroad advisors. They serve as the first contact person for students interested in education abroad through virtual or in-person communication. Peer Advisors assist the education abroad staff in the promotion of Colorado State University education abroad and exchange programs as well as affiliate program options. The Peer Advisor program provides the opportunity for students to enhance individual skills in interpersonal and written communication, customer service, marketing and outreach, public speaking, and administration.
As a first-year student in this position, there is an opportunity to receive training and mentorship to grow their technical and interpersonal skills while learning about the field of international education. Ideally, this student will work as a Peer Advisor for the 4+ years they are at CSU which provides opportunities to grow professional skills and take on leadership roles.

Responsibilities:
- Learning how to navigate the education abroad website, familiarizing yourself with EA FAQ’s, and assisting potential education abroad students in learning about these resources,
- Assisting in administrative tasks such as answering the education abroad email, processing transcripts, reviewing websites, and more.
- Conducting initial in-person general advising of Colorado State University students who wish to have an education abroad experience.
- Assisting with presentations including classroom visits, residence halls, student groups, and others as assigned
- Participating in some of the following tasks:
- Entering database information efficiently and accurately
- Processing paperwork and applications for approximately 500-1800 education abroad students each year
- Communicating with students in a timely and professional manner regarding incomplete applications
- Assisting Education Abroad staff with general program correspondence, mailings, and/or registration materials
Peer Advisors will work on special projects such as:
- Assisting with outreach activities (e.g. tabling, chalking the plaza, other) to increase participation in education abroad, including outreach to underrepresented groups.
- Assisting with promotion and logistics of the CSU Education Abroad Fair.
- Supporting CSU International Programs - Education Abroad events, such as outreach events, incoming exchange student orientation, and education abroad returnee events.
- Coordinating the Education Abroad photo contest each semester.
- Engaging in the Education Abroad social media platforms.

Requirements:
Candidates for First-Year Peer Advisor must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Must be a first-year student currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at Colorado State University and be in good academic and judicial standing
- Available to work 7-10 hours a week with occasional evening and/or weekend hours during the spring 2026 and fall 2026 semesters
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Detail oriented and organized
Additional Desirable Attributes and Background:
- Strong presentation skills and confidence in public speaking
- Desire to work in international education and enthusiasm for education abroad and its value
- Knowledge and/or experience with CSU education abroad resources
- Ability and interest to work in this role beyond fall 2026
Preference in hiring given to students who are able to commit to the position longer than the calendar year.
