Engineering Co-op
Begin your career working with some of the top civil engineering experts in the industry. Burgess & Niple is looking for a full time, summer 2026 Engineering Co-op to join our team in Akron.
B&N Engineering Co-op Responsibilities:
- Be a part of the project team and under the supervision of Professional Engineers, performing manhole inspections throughout the City of Canton sewer systems.
- Provide knowledge of municipal infrastructure in a real-life application of civil engineering.
- Locate manholes using GPS (survey equipment), taking pictures using a tablet, and inspecting for infiltration and cracks are the main goals for this work.
- You will be able to gain both field and office experience.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Current student at an accredited college or university working toward bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying or Mapping.
- Previous survey experience a plus.
- Ability to lift manhole covers up to 80 lbs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products required. AutoCAD or ArcGIS experience a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and work outdoors.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
