ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Island Roots Housing is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and preserving affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families and individuals in Island County. We are committed to addressing the affordable housing crisis and creating greater housing equity through innovative development projects, creative financing tools, community partnerships, and sustainable housing solutions.
POSITION SUMMARY AND CONTEXT
Island Roots Housing seeks an experienced Director of Program & Operations to join our executive team in a co-leadership model alongside the Director of Housing Development. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role will develop the infrastructure to take on administrative duties currently supported by our fiscal agent, Goosefoot Community Fund. Resulting from the split of the current Managing Director role, the new Director of Program & Operations and Director of Housing Development roles will form a collaborative executive team to enact Island Roots Housing’s mission and goals, while embodying our values of consensus-oriented leadership, mutual accountability, and strengths-based collaboration.

- Fundraising & Community Engagement
- Communications & Advocacy
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required; relevant experience may substitute
- 7-10 years progressive nonprofit management leadership experience including fundraising responsibilities
- Track record of effective human resources development and management skills
- Strong financial management experience including budgeting, reporting, and fiscal oversight
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational systems
- Excellent communication skills with public speaking and media relations experience
- Knowledge of affordable housing operations and regulations helpful but not required
WORKING CONDITIONS & COMPENSATION
- Full-time, exempt position with occasional evening/weekend work
- Travel within Island County and to meetings/conferences as needed
- Hybrid work environment with regular office presence required.
- Total compensation including benefits $90,000-$100,000
- Benefits include 3% contributions to a SIMPLE IRA, 2 weeks vacation plus 9 holidays, and professional development opportunities.
