Event Planning Assistant Emerging Professional
Overview
The Source of Hope is seeking a proactive and organized Event Planning Assistant Emerging Professional to support the coordination and execution of more than 50 annual events. This hands-on role provides students with real-world experience in event planning, logistics, communication, and community engagement. The position is ideal for those who enjoy teamwork, creativity, and helping bring meaningful community initiatives to life.
As part of our commitment to holistic development, Emerging Professionals in this role also have access to select wellness and health services at a reduced or no cost, based on individual needs.

Compensation
This is an unpaid Emerging Professional internship offering mentorship and professional experience in nonprofit event planning and community outreach.
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Thursday: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- Monthly Event: Fourth Saturday (6:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
- Up to 20 hours per week
Emerging Professional Program
The Source of Hope’s Emerging Professional Program empowers students and young adults to gain professional, leadership, and organizational skills through hands-on experience. Participants receive mentorship, training, and opportunities to contribute directly to community events and programs that make a lasting impact.
Qualifications
- Excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills
- Dependable, adaptable, and able to handle multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
- Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to assist in both planning and hands-on setup of events (must be able to lift up to 40 lbs)
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Currently enrolled in college, pursuing or interested in Event Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related fields
- Prior experience in event planning, hospitality, or volunteer coordination is a plus but not required
Responsibilities
- Support planning, coordination, and execution of community events and fundraisers
- Communicate with volunteers, sponsors, and vendors to ensure successful event logistics
- Assist with setup, registration, hospitality, and guest engagement during events
- Help manage event materials, supplies, and schedules
- Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to promote events
- Maintain organized documentation and post-event reports
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and participant experience
- Participate in Serving Hope events (4th Saturday, 6 AM – 1 PM)
