Employment Type: Seasonal / Full-Time (June 1-August 14, 2026)
Overview
The Senior Counselor is a key leader among the camp staff, supporting the Program Coordinators while mentoring junior counselors and fostering an inclusive, safe, and fun environment for campers. This role balances hands-on activity leadership with guidance, problem-solving, and leadership modeling. The ideal candidate is experienced, responsible, and enthusiastic about creating memorable camp experiences.
Key Responsibilities

Camper Supervision & Mentorship
- Serve as the primary mentor for a new group of campers each week
- Provide diligent supervision Sunday-Friday, including overnights
- Support campers’ emotional, social, and personal growth throughout their camp experience.

Staff Support & Leadership
- Assist the Program Coordinators in training, coaching, and supervising junior counselors.
- Model positive leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

Program Delivery
- Lead or assist with daily activities, ensuring they are engaging, safe, and age-appropriate.
- Help implement special events, theme days, and camp traditions.

Safety & Wellbeing
- Enforce camp safety policies and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Support campers’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Flexibility & Teamwork
- Pitch in wherever needed — from assisting in the dining hall, helping with maintenance, or covering extra activities.
- Collaborate with the entire camp staff to keep the community running smoothly.
Qualifications
- 18+ years of age
- Previous experience in childcare, education, youth recreation, or related fields.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple moving parts while staying calm under pressure.
- Comfortable working long days outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Respect for diverse perspectives on faith, identity, relationships, and the natural world
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed - whether that means helping in the kitchen, cleaning facilities, or solving unexpected challenges to keep camp running smoothly.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
