Job Description: Grants Intern


This position reports to the Grants Director and will be fully remote. The Grants intern at Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) will have the opportunity to:

  • Get hands-on practical experience in grant research and proposal writing, 
  • Be part of funder stewardship, 
  • Learn about database management and systems improvement. 
     

Responsibilities:

Grants research, prospecting, & stewardship

  • Research foundations, corporate giving programs, and other potential funders aligned with CMEP’s mission.
  • Prepare concise written summaries of prospects, including funding priorities, recent grants, application cycles, and contact information.
  • Maintain and update prospect lists and tracking documents.
  • Support stewardship activities to improve funder retention and engagement.

Proposal support & communications

  • Assist with drafting, proofreading, and formatting proposal narratives, budgets, letters of inquiry, and reports.
  • Support creation of tailored materials and communications for funders.
  • Help manage routine grant correspondence and follow-ups.

Database management & reporting

  • Work with the Director of Grants and the Operations and Growth Manager to maintain and improve CRM records.
  • Enter and clean data, maintain accurate records of submissions, deadlines, and funder information.
  • Generate basic data reports and lists to support grant tracking and decision making.
  • Help design or refine systems, workflows, and templates that streamline grant writing and reporting.

Administrative support

  • Provide general administrative support to the Development Team as needed.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

 

Desired skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn CRM systems (for example Salsa CRM or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively with a remote team.
  • Coursework or experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, public policy, or related fields.
  • Experience with basic budget spreadsheets or grant reporting.
