Pastor/Director of Service and Community Engagement

CEFC is seeking a Pastor/Director of Service and Community Engagement to provide leadership, vision, and oversight to the Serve Ministry at CEFC’s Carlisle campus. As the leader of this ministry, you will assist individuals in discovering how they have been shaped for ministry and provide on-ramps for them to steward their gifts through the church, the community, and the world. 

CEFC is a multi-site church in the greater Harrisburg area with our broadcast location in Carlisle, PA. Southcentral PA is a historic area known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and quaint, shop-filled downtowns. With mountains on the horizon, trout-filled streams, and the Appalachian Trail nearby, Southcentral PA is a great place to call home and raise a family. If you are looking for big-city amenities, Harrisburg is just 20 minutes away across the Susquehanna River and Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City are all within easy reach.

ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITTMENTS:

This is a full-time exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. This position requires work on Sunday mornings and occasionally during weekday evenings.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model living all of life for Christ in serving
  • Championing within CEFC a culture of being “sent out to serve”
  • Cultivate opportunities and develop a plan to involve the maximum number of church attendees in the church’s serve efforts. 
  • Recruit, develop, and deploy volunteers for the Church’s various serve efforts with a focus on leading, encouraging, and resourcing people who lead serving opportunities
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and training to First Impressions Ministries (ushers, greeters, the Brew Crew, and the welcome desk)
  • Lead church teams to participate in regular mission trips to local, domestic, and international locations to meet spiritual and physical needs in these communities
  • Create and maintain a web-based resource for individuals and groups to connect with serving opportunities
  • Develop and execute the annual Serve budget
  • Explore emerging technologies to help church members prepare for Serve events and mission trips
  • Support and care for church members who are exploring a call to long-term missions 
  • Participate in general pastoral duties as needed
  • Form an advisory team of no more than four people to assist with execution and management of service opportunities and projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A vibrant relationship with Christ and commitment to CEFC’s doctrines, vision,            and values.
  • A call to serve the church and help others use their gifts to serve the church, the community and the world
  • A track record of successful leadership or evidence of gifting in the area of leadership
  • Three years of experience in a closely related field or role is preferred, but not required
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • A leader who loves people and has a relational leadership style
