Interested in U.S.–China relations, public diplomacy, and international education? Join the U.S.–China Education Trust (USCET), a nonprofit organization founded by the first Chinese American to become US Ambassador, Julia Chang Bloch. USCET is dedicated to strengthening mutual understanding between the United States and China through education and exchange. The Program and Communications Internship offers undergraduate and graduate students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit program management, event coordination, research, and public outreach. Interns will work closely with USCET’s program staff and leadership on initiatives that explore key themes in international relations, diplomacy, and education exchange. Responsibilities
Interns will support USCET’s mission through communication, program logistics, and research, including:
- Draft website, newsletter, and social media content; design event materials; and help expand USCET’s digital presence and audience engagement.
- Assist with planning and executing events, preparing reports and briefings, and supporting ongoing initiatives related to U.S.–China relations and education exchange.
- Conduct research to inform new program ideas and grant proposals, and contribute to concept notes, donor communications, and post-event summaries.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate junior/seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates.
- Demonstrated academic or personal interest in international relations, diplomacy, and U.S.–China relations.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Canva, Zoom Webinar, WordPress, and social media platforms including Linkedin, Instagram, and X.
- Graphic design, video editing, or web/management development experience preferred.
Chinese language proficiency is preferred but not required. - Previous internship experience strongly preferred.
Compensation
Interns may choose to receive academic credit through their university or a $1,500 stipend upon successful completion of the internship. To be eligible for the stipend, interns must maintain satisfactory performance and commit to at least 20 hours per week for fifteen weeks.
