Director of Education Services- Barr Construction Institute

SUMMARY STATEMENT

Provide merit-shop construction industry with world-class safety programs and workforce training.

 

It is critical to note that this position works a non-traditional schedule with minimal flexibility to adjust it. The hours for the Director of Education position are listed below:


•    Monday:  8:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
•    Tuesday:  11:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
•    Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
•    Thursday:  11:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
•    Friday:  Telework unless there is an in-person need.
•    Some early morning meetings and career fairs as needed.
•    The normal week exceeds 40 hours. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

•    Coordinate all activities for Chapter Apprenticeship, Safety and Educational programs.


•    Serve on the apprenticeship, safety, and education committee.


•    Visit and observe evening and daytime apprenticeship, craft training, and other educational offerings weekly.


•    Develop new courses and educational offerings as needed by working with our members and construction industry as well as working with community partners.


•    Locate and recruit instructors for educational offerings as needed by working with our members and construction industry as well as working with community partners.


•    Work with marketing department to create engaging marketing materials to promote classes and educational offerings.


•    Encourage, promote and recruit non-member employers who are participating in the apprenticeship program to become members.


•    Visit classes that are held in house to monitor their progress each year.


•    Maintain and grow the school to work programs.


•    Promote youth apprenticeship program in our region of Maryland.


•    Complete all record keeping required by different governing bodies of our apprenticeship program.


•    Keep the chapter in compliance with NCCER and prepare for semiannual audits and accreditation.


•    Cooperate with all governmental agencies to provide needed information about our programs.


•    Serve on tech advisory boards as deemed necessary.


•    Reporting to HCC and other organizations as requested by our partners.


•    Maintain and grow the Construction Club program with high school students in the area.


•    Maintain and grow the Construction Camp programs in the area.


•    Maintain the robust filing system for student files while keeping their information secure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree preferred or the willingness to work towards a degree if hired, has working and operational knowledge of apprenticeship, has working understanding of public-school systems in MD and PA, has 3 years of experience in education 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Has proficient skills in Microsoft Office, pass FBI educators background check, has experience and working knowledge of social media use in business and social and web analytics
