Position Summary: The University of Akron is seeking a responsible and independent Student Assistant to support the Physical Facilities Operations Center (PFOC) team. This position will primarily focus on cleaning and maintaining building common areas. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and dedicated to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. The role requires working independently to ensure common spaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to meet university standards.

Key Details:

  • Start/End Date: As soon as possible/ Possible Spring Semester Hire
  • Days/Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Pay: $12 per hour
  • Hours per Week: Up to 29 hours per week
  • Interviews: Interviews will be conducted beginning October 30th, 2025

Job Responsibilities:

  • General Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness in common areas of buildings, including wiping surfaces, emptying trash, and ensuring proper sanitation.
  • Disinfection: Regularly disinfect high-touch points in buildings, such as doorknobs, light switches, and bathroom fixtures.
  • Independent Work: Work independently with minimal supervision to ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitation are met.
  • Other Tasks: Assist with cleaning other areas of campus as required and adhere to health and safety protocols.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Academic Requirement: Must fulfill all Student Employment eligibility requirements.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, work with cleaning chemicals, and travel between campus buildings.
  • Independent Worker: Must manage time efficiently and work autonomously.
  • Prior Experience: Previous cleaning experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Shift Requirement: Availability to work the 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM shift.

UA student employees must be 18 years or older at the time of their start date. Any approved remote work conducted by student employees MUST be performed within the state of Ohio.
