Reports To: Alex Selkirk
Time Commitment:
- 1–2 hours per week for core work
- 1-2 hours per week for optional work, with the potential for more if desired
- Flexible work schedule

Ponder provides multiple services for educational institutions including Ponder Paper, a smart student work scanning system, and an education data warehouse, the Ponder DWE. Ponder Labs is the engineering partner of Uncommon Schools, a key player in the education reform movement that focuses on closing the achievement gap for low-income students. Uncommon takes a scientific approach to the art of instruction, while Ponder incubates new technologies to optimize Uncommon’s methodology for release to the broader education market.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Help keep assessments accurate, consistent, and ready for teachers:
The Curriculum Specialist helps ensure our Ponder Paper assessments and curriculum materials are entered and accurate for schools and network staff to use. The core work of this role supports the Ponder Paper user experience by reducing entry errors through configuring and vetting assessments. The optional work of this role contributes to ongoing curriculum improvements and provides input into new curriculum initiatives.
Core Work:
- Support assessments by entering Unit Assessments, Power Practice Quizzes, Exit Tickets, and Mock Regents into our Ponder Paper tool.
- Vet exam entry (Interim Assessments) to ensure alignment with published materials.
- Collaborate with K8 Curriculum Assessment Team about entry issues (e.g., Renaissance answer keys, lesson updates, assessment revisions, etc.).
Optional Work:
As we continue to scale, there may be opportunities to take on supplemental projects such as:
- Assist with testing, roll-out, and use of a new curriculum development & management tool (alias: CAT db).
- Participate in research and planning work as part of new school pilots both in the US and UK.
- Contribute to new special projects that emerge during the school year.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in reviewing and entering assessments.
- Collaborative, with the ability to coordinate across teams.
- Demonstrated interest in the education sector with experience as a former teacher, school leader, school administrator, or graduate student.
- Flexible and open to learning, with interest in contributing to evolving Curriculum & Instruction based projects.
