Job Description for: Associate Pastor of Next Gen Ministries
The position of Associate Pastor of Next Gen Ministries for Ogemaw Hills Church involves responsibility for overseeing the continued development and implementation of Christ-centered and dynamic Student & Young Adult/Family Ministries through the Church and in the community which glorify Jesus and invite His transforming presence into the lives He entrusts into our care.
The Associate Pastor will have a special responsibility for Student & Young Adult/Family Ministries and with the understanding that God will direct and enable him in other areas of ministry as well to see God reach those who do not yet know Christ and to multiply disciples.
This person will be regarded as a Pastor of the church. He will partner with the Lead Pastor in carrying the ministry of the church including planning and visioning, Sunday morning service involvement, periodic preaching, and overseeing the church (and filling the pulpit) when the Lead Pastor is on vacation, at conferences, etc.
Accountable to: Lead Pastor; Church BOA; Michigan Conference
Personal Requirements:
- Be a committed follower of Christ, exemplifying the fruits of a Spirit-filled life.
- Model a life of prayer, worship, and personal holiness both in and out of the church.
- Be able to work with other staff members and the church in general in creating and fulfilling the overall vision of the church.
- Participate in the life of the church, i.e., discipleship, worship, fellowship, etc.
- Meet with pastor regularly for prayer, direction, and vision.
- Live and minister in harmony with the Scriptures, the doctrine of the Free Methodist Church, and the principles of our Membership Covenant.
Student Ministries Responsibilities:
The Associate Pastor shall fulfill the following responsibilities himself or ensure that they are being fulfilled.
- Oversee and give hands-on leadership as needed to our Student Ministries (7th-12th grades).
- Recruit, train, resource, and lead volunteer and student leaders to work with Student Ministries to promote ministry fruitfulness and fulfillment of God’s calling in their lives.
- Develop/Implement discipleship programs for Student Ministries which include Biblical training, varied activities, and leadership that produce mature disciples who make disciples.
- Plan/lead special events (monthly).
- Give guidance and encouragement to teens and families in crisis.
- Reach out into the community, schools, and homes of students with the love of Christ.
Young Adult/Family Ministries Responsibilities:
The Associate Pastor shall fulfill the following responsibilities himself or ensure that they are being fulfilled.
- Connection - Reaching out and inviting into connective relationships personally, in smaller groups, and corporately.
- Assimilation - Assisting with the journey from guest to ministry partner.
- Discipleship - Training and equipping individuals, couples, and families to live, love, and serve like Jesus.
