POSITION: Great Hearts Home Office Intern                      

DEPARTMENT: IT              

LOCATION: Phoenix Home Office  (all travel reimbursement will originate and end at the PHO office: 4717 E Hilton Ave Suite 300, Phoenix AZ 85034)

REPORTS TO: Department Manager   

FLSA STATUS: Positions include Non-Exempt, Part-time/Temporary 

HOURLY RATE:  $16.00 / hour plus mileage when traveling to campuses from Home Office (based on Great Hearts Policy)

Estimated Duration:  3 months, with a potential for an additional 3 months

Background

Great Hearts is seeking a temporary hourly position within the Information Technology Department.  This position will perform various tasks and/or projects of which some of them are outlined in this Statement of Work.  Great Hearts will mentor the intern, provide IT and General Business experiences.

 

 

 

Work Hours: 20 – 28 hours (with an occasional 32 hours)

  • Orientation will take place in the Phoenix Home Office (PHO) (4717 E Hilton Ave, Suite 300, Phoenix AZ)
  • Work hours will typically between the hours  8am – 5pm (with 1 hour lunch)
  • Work days:  Thursday: 6-8 hours at Phoenix Home Office and then the remaining days of the week can be discussed during the final interview (before hire)
  • There may be an occasional weekend special project (trading off a day through the week)
  • Ability to work remote will only be a consideration based on productivity during Orientation and evidence of ongoing productivity.

Orientation: Debbie Perrault (Director of IT / Lata Sitake (AZ IT Service Delivery Manager)

Post Orientation: Lata Sitake

 

 

Required Skill Level:

  • MS Excel, Power Point
  • Driver’s license and ability to drive to work at the Phoenix Home Office or any of the Great Hearts Schools in AZ
  • A great sense of wonder and desire to learn
  • Strong work ethic
  • Team Player
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • IT – experience is not a requirement

 

 

Intern Learning Objective – by the end of the internship, the intern will have:

  • Hands-on experience within a dynamic IT department by actively participating in its daily operations 
  • collaborating with both internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • understanding the communication processes that support IT projects and services.

 

 

Internship will include -  coaching moments from any IT team members, moments to “pause” and provide insight into what just occurred, daily end of day discussion and review

 

 

 

Learning Opportunity: Budgeting

  • Pull vendor invoices, audit contractual pricing, review equipment inventory
  • Track spending to budget by school
  • Prepare for Headmaster budget presentation
  • Analyze End of Life equipment / End of Sale equipment
  • Forecast remaining expenses and work with Lata and Debbie on solutions to ensure schools come in “on budget” to only a slight, but acceptable overage.  With no surprises to the school or the accounting team.

  • Ticket Analysis
  • KPI Analysis
  • Student Testing Issue Analysis
  • Summary reporting
  • Process analysis coupled with suggestions for process improvements

 

 

Initiative:  Student Testing and IT survey follow up

  • Work with IT Team to ensure schools are set up for a successful testing experience
  • Be present at schools to assist with and/or record situations that require further investigation
  • Assist IT Team in the daily survey during testing, and reporting daily on survey results
  • Interact with technology vendor as required

 

 

Initiative:  Cicero Home Office MDF/IDF room:  inventory classification and organization

  • The cicero 2nd floor IDF room started the processing of classifying and organizing items in this room.  This task needs to continue until completed
  • You may obtain direction from another IT team member: Larry Higinbotham
  • You may be required to work with multiple vendors for handling any equipment to be decommissioned.
  • Inventory accountability

 

 

RFP: Request for Proposal – Assist with the RFP Work to create a process flow for this process

  • Quality check the basics in the RFP checklist
  • Assist Great Hearts Project Management Office, as requested
  • Ensue all documentation is collected in the audit libraries at the conclusion of

 

 

RFP: Listening Tour:  Service Delivery

  • Assist the AZ IT Service Delivery Manager as required to prepare for the Listening Tours with the Headmaster and Key School Leadership positions
  • Summarize findings in a formal that can easily be analyzed
  • Assist in the brainstorming and planning process

 

Other duties as assigned

 

 

Additional Requirements

 

Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Level fingerprint clearance card.

Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 25 pounds approximately.

Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
