Mission & Priorities


The D Center at the University of Washington is committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community that celebrates disability and d/Deaf culture. The Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in advancing this mission through the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:


•  Community Building
Foster a strong sense of disability and d/Deaf pride across the UW campus.


•  Advocacy & Empowerment
Share resources and tools that support self-advocacy, activism, and empowerment for disabled and/or d/Deaf individuals.


•  Programming & Collaboration
Develop and implement social, cultural, and educational programming in collaboration with groups representing diverse lived experiences within the disabled and d/Deaf communities.


•  Campus Partnerships
Collaborate with departments, schools, cultural centers, and other campus entities to enhance student and community engagement.


•  Inclusive Space
Serve as a welcoming and inclusive meeting place for students, faculty, and staff seeking a safe environment.


•  Resource Hub
Act as a dynamic resource for information, websites, services, advocacy groups, and organizations—local, regional, national, and international—that focus on disability and d/Deaf issues.
