The Glen Ellyn Police Department strives to provide impartial and unbiased policing to the community, to hire the best people, and equip them with the tools and training to effectively safeguard lives and property.

Minimum Requirements:

  • $20 Application Fee (non-refundable)
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • No Felony Convictions
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • At least 20 years of age at time of examination and must be 21 years of age at time of appointment
  • Must be under 35 years of age at time of employment, unless otherwise exempt by Statute
  • Must possess a current and valid POWER test card as of Friday, November 14, 2025 
    • POWER test card must be issued 05/14/2025 – 11/14/2025 to be considered valid.

Testing Information:

Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home. Testing will be held during business hours during the week of December 15, 2025. For additional information on what is required for the virtual testing click here.

The Village of Glen Ellyn is a wonderful community, and the members of this Department are proud to provide professional law enforcement services to the 28,000 residents that make Glen Ellyn their home and the countless others who work or otherwise visit our community. The Department is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by 45 sworn police officers and 18 full and part-time civilian employees. The Glen Ellyn Police Department strives to provide impartial and unbiased policing to the community, to hire the best people, and equip them with the tools and training to effectively safeguard lives and property. 

All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to complete any portion of the testing process will result in disqualification from the employment process.
