Summary:

Responsible for providing learning management system support, training, and resources to university, college, and departmental academic stakeholders. Collaborates and serves as an experienced resource in course design best practices from planning to consultation, development, and implementation. Provides advanced technical support (tier 2 and 3) for escalated Canvas LMS issues from faculty, staff, and students and assists in administration of learning management system, including account management, course creation and archival, system upgrades, application integration, enrollment, and tools/systems. Partners with Registrar and Information Technology to ensure accuracy of course, term, and enrollment data across systems. Partners with subject matter experts to create interactive and accessible academic courses and instructional materials. 

 

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

LMS Configuration, Integration, and Management: Collaborate and assist the University LMS Administrator to organize the LMS to meet institutional needs including customizing user interfaces, course structures, and user roles. Evaluate new integrations for technical fit, compliance, and pedagogical value. Test to ensure integration with other tools and platforms including content authoring software, video conferencing tools, etc. Collaborate with information technology to perform regular updates, implement security measures, and test integrations and system functionalities. Educational and LMS Support: Independently coordinate, prioritize, and manage e-learning projects related to the academic curriculum, teaching, and instructional (course) design. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university stakeholders to identify and respond to e-learning needs while researching and staying current on innovative approaches and best practices in online teaching and learning, instructional design, technology, etc. Provide LMS technical support and troubleshooting as well as consultative support on evidence-based best practices for appropriate use of technologies and delivery modalities in teaching, instructional practices, and course design. Create and deliver programming through the Institute for Teaching Excellence including the development of sessions and resource materials and facilitation of workshops and training sessions. Promote the adoption of best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment while contributing to identifying and implementing ways of assessing the impact of teaching, instructional practices, and course design initiatives. University Collaboration and Relations: Collaborate in university-wide efforts to improve teaching, instructional practices, course design, and assessment practices in support of an exceptional student experience. Partner with university stakeholders to create and update procedures/style guides to follow university policy for systems under the ITE . Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

• Experience with Canvas LMS /application administration and distance learning technologies

• Minimum 1 year direct experience providing Canvas LMS technical support, troubleshooting, and training

• Knowledge of learning theories and principles and accessibility (WCAG 2.1, Section 508) and FERPA best practices

• Experience delivering professional development workshops and training sessions to faculty and staff in higher education setting

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Master’s degree in education or related field

• Minimum 1 year direct experience with using Team Dynamix system in providing technical support and troubleshooting to end users

• Experience working with and delivering faculty development to medical/health professions education faculty in university setting

• Prior experience working with university teaching and learning center programs delivering sessions on evidence-based best practices and use of technologies for teaching, learning, assessment, and course design

• Familiarity with HTML and CSS for web design, web accessibility, e-authoring technologies, and media in higher education

• Familiarity with SIS integrations (ILP , Banner, etc.)

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and screen and other office equipment.

 

Department Specific Information:

Starting salary range $53,650-$63,486, commensurate with experience.
