Part-Time Student - Maintenance and Automation

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities:

As a Part-Time Student-Maintenance Engineering and Factory Automation for Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

  • Support Maintenance Engineering, Factory Automation, Buildings and Grounds initiatives at the Foundry
  • Execute Maintenance Engineering Projects: BOM’s, Spare Parts, PM’s, Contingency Plans, and machine/facility layout
  • Execute Factory Automation Projects: Electrical control system design and print development, Programmable Logic, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) maintenance
  • Execute Continuous Improvement (CI200) Projects: Priority will be on Safety and Machine Availability
  • Gather, review, and analyze data to understand trends and determine priorities for project assignment and execution
  • Support Indirect Materials & Services (IM&S) purchasing

What Skills You Need

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in engineering, technology, or related field; others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university
  • Graduation date of Spring 2027 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly during the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM CST
  • Available to work during the summer semester 30-40 hours/weekly during the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM CST
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a daily basis year-round
  • Preferably pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Technology, Automation Technology, Mechatronics/Controls Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering

$15 - $40 hourly based on published rates for business function and education level.
