Tax Intern – Summer 2026
Location: Indianapolis, IN. This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. A Tax Intern will be responsible for supporting our Tax department by assisting with federal and state income tax compliance, tax accounting, examination/audit defense, and special projects. During this summer internship, the intern will be exposed to and gain experience with federal and state income tax, sales/use tax, property tax, and state premium (insurance) tax. This internship will provide the selected candidate with an exciting opportunity to learn about the greater impacts of the Corporate Tax Department and its contributions to the overall performance of a Fortune 20 company.
This position is a full-time, 12-week internship (May 18th, 2025 – August 7th, 2025) program in alignment with our Enterprise-wide Summer Internship program.
How you will make an impact:
Performing in-depth data analysis and tax modeling and assisting with process improvement
Researching and executing analysis of tax law (federal, state and/or international)
Supporting ongoing state and/or federal state tax audits
Preparing selected tax filings while analyzing tax developments and their application to business units
Working with a tax team to deliver outstanding results
Minimum Requirements:
Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in either: Accounting, Finance, or a related program.
The ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship and work in-office at least once per week.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
An interest in pursuing a career in the field of taxation (CPA path preferred)
Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, and Access
