Youth Development Coordinator- Part-time
Join our team by leading and supporting youth engagement initiatives focused on public health, upstream evidence-informed substance use prevention, suicide prevention and mental wellbeing. This role will partner with the Impact Quincy Coordinator to plan, host and facilitate the Impact Quincy Youth Action Team and support other youth related initiatives.
What You Will be Doing to Make an Impact in our Local Communities...
· Organize, plan agendas and activities, and facilitate regular meetings and activities for the Impact Quincy Youth Action Team, with support from the Impact Quincy Coalition Coordinator. YAT meetings should focus on youth development, advocacy skills, and promotion of evidence-informed upstream prevention
· Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership development to youth participants
· Support Impact Quincy Coordinator with coordination of the coalition
· Collaborate with partners across the region and state to plan leadership events, training, and youth summits
· Plan, organize, and facilitate trainings, activities and meetings for youth; mobilizes youth for leadership and civic action in policy efforts, including organizing legislative visits to the Statehouse and potentially bringing youth to the CADCA Forum in Washington, D.C.
· Builds one-on-one and small group relationships with youth to nurture strengths and promote social and emotional growth
· Integrate youth action team members into internal programs beyond the Impact Quincy Coalition (like Suicide Prevention and Mass community initiatives, where appropriate.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred).
· Relevant experience in primary prevention, youth development, public health, coalition work, or community organizing
· 2+ years of experience working directly with youth in a leadership, mentoring, or educational role
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
· Strong facilitation and communication skills; ability to communicate with youth adn adults
· Knowledge of substance use prevention frameworks (e.g., Positive Youth Development, Strategic Prevention Framework) preferred
· Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of youth mental health and well-being
· Experience in community outreach and working with youth
· Understands the history of structural racism in the US as a root cause of health inequities
· Available to attend community meetings outside of regular business hours in the evening and on weekends
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving skills
· Creativity, flexibility, and ability to handle several tasks simultaneous
· Knowledge of local community resources in Quincy and/or resident of Quincy
· Ability to work very independently and also as a team
· Valid MA driver’s license with acceptable driving record; ability to travel locally and occasionally throughout Massachusetts for trainings/meetings
· Ability to speak two or more languages preferred
Experience implementing the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) or developing strategic plans, logic models and program action plans
· Must be comfortable with public speaking and facilitating meetings
Strong time management and ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
· Ability to prepare general reports, charts, and tables
· Certified Prevention Specialist, or in the process of becoming certified, or willing to work towards certification
· Acceptable CORI and SORI background record check as required by program
