Cyber Security Support Technician

Position Overview:

The Cyber Security Technical Support Technician will report directly to the Information System Security Manager while supporting the Information System Security Officer (ISSO), Cyber Security Engineers, and Technical Security Program (TSP).

 

Location:

On-site in Erwin, TN

 

Your Day to Day as a Cyber Security Support Technician: 

  • Support cybersecurity program efforts in the areas of Vulnerability Assessment, Access Control and Authorization, Policy Enforcement, Application Security, Incident Response, and Threat Detection.
  • Perform analysis of security data from multiple heterogenous security tools deployed on the network(s).
  • Perform assessments of technology (e.g. warehouse items and medical devices) to evaluate for unauthorized technology.
  • Support analysis, reporting, and escalation of actionable threats.
  • Support execution of remediation efforts for security events.
  • Document and communicate findings and after-action reports.
  • Perform periodic audits to include walk-downs of locations and detecting anomalies.
  • Generate reports and create documentation to support cybersecurity efforts.
  • Support ongoing cybersecurity projects through various other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve security vulnerabilities and strengthen security posture.
  • Stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities in the cybersecurity landscape.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of relevant experience OR a High school diploma/equivalent plus 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to follow procedures and defined work processes related to SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and Anti-virus alerting, triage, and escalation.
  • Fundamental understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects, Microsoft Windows operating systems, digital forensics tools, and networks/networking. 
  • Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure.
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance.
