High School Special Educator

High School Special Educator

Stoneham High School is seeking a licensed Special Education (Moderate Disabilities 5 -12) Teacher to join our Special Education Department for the 2025-2026 school year. Ideal candidates have experience providing Special Education instruction and services to adolescent-aged students within the secondary school setting.  

 

Ideal Candidates:

  • Licensed in Moderate Disabilities 5-12
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Classroom experience within the secondary setting
  • Experience with CoTeaching 
  • Knowledge of and experience with completing and analyzing academic evaluation assessments (e.g., WIAT-4, GORT-5, etc.)
  • Knowledge of special education law and policy
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating a positive learning environment for students within the co-taught and Learning Strategies settings that align with Universally Designed Learning (UDL) standards.
  • Collaborating with the Special Education Coordinator to support instruction and to ensure the delivery of services is in alignment with the student’s service delivery grid.
  • Acting as Team Chair for Annual Review meetings for students on their caseload
  • Writing, editing, and developing effective Individual Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Co-teaching alongside a general education teacher within a core-4 content area
  • Provide consultation to general education teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, and the needs of students
  • Providing accommodations and modifications to students within the co-taught and Learning Strategies setting
  • Differentiating research-based instruction and implementing specially designed instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Caseload management (e.g., parent communication, interdepartmental collaboration, etc.)
  • Tracking and analyzing student data to identify progress and write progress reports
