Technical Procurement Specialist
TOPTICA Photonics is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Technical Procurement Specialist to join its Operations team in Rochester, NY. This role is key to ensuring smooth procurement, vendor management, and operational support across the organization, with a focus on timely and cost-effective fulfillment of optical and photonics materials.
The ideal candidate will have experience in supply chain or operations within a photonics or high-tech environment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Lead purchasing for office, lab, and production materials
- Ensure continuous supply of required optical components; address any risks or delays
- Prepare and process purchase orders, verify specs and pricing
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend vendor alternatives
- Conduct vendor evaluations and manage annual reviews
- Support inventory management and physical counts
Operations Support
- Assist with open orders reporting and interpretation
- Provide warehouse support and cross-train in order processing as needed
- Assist in maintaining sales reports (bookings, backlog, shipments)
- Participate in special projects across operations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of supply chain or operations experience, preferably in a photonics manufacturing environment
- Associate degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
- Experience with optical/photonics materials preferred
- Strong ERP skills (Microsoft Navision/Dynamics), Excel proficiency
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Business acumen, high ethical standards, and ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Must have unrestricted right to work in the U.S.
