Position Overview: The Health Officer will be responsible for overseeing the health and wellness of all campers and staff during the camp season. This position requires a dedicated professional with experience in healthcare, first aid, and emergency response, particularly in settings that support individuals with special needs. The Health Officer will ensure that all medical protocols are followed and that campers receive appropriate care as needed.
Key Responsibilities:

Health Monitoring:
- Conduct initial health assessments for all campers upon arrival and maintain accurate health records throughout the camp session.
- Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of campers, addressing any health concerns that arise.

First Aid & Emergency Response:
- Provide immediate first aid and medical treatment as necessary, ensuring a prompt response to any injuries or health issues.
- Develop emergency action plans for specific medical needs and communicate these plans to staff and counselors.

Medication Management:
- Oversee the administration of medications for campers, ensuring compliance with prescribed dosages and schedules.
- Maintain secure storage and accurate documentation of all medications.

Collaboration:
- Work closely with camp administration, counselors, and parents/guardians to address any health concerns and provide necessary support.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to ensure a unified approach to camper health and safety.

Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure that all health practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding health and safety in a camp setting.
- Maintain accurate records of health assessments, incidents, and communications with parents or guardians.
Qualifications:
- Current license or certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical First Responder, Wilderness First Responder, or certified in Responding to Emergencies.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong knowledge of first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with campers, staff, and families.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emergencies calmly and efficiently.
