Student Intern - Developmental Groups for Kids

🌳 The Treehouse Internship Opportunity: Seeking a Magical Unicorn 🦄

Are you the kind of person who doesn’t mind a little glitter, a little mess, and a lot of laughs? Do you love kids, play-based learning, and the idea of making a real difference? The Treehouse is looking for a student intern who is equal parts kind, curious, flexible, and fun — basically, a magical unicorn.

📅 Availability:
This part is non-negotiable: you must be available all day on Fridays (8:45am - 3:00pm). That’s when our developmental playgroups are in full swing! (There may also be opportunities to add additional hours in the future as we grow and add new groups.)

💚 Who We Are

The Treehouse is a non-profit organization that provides inclusive, therapist-led developmental playgroups for children of all abilities.

Our playgroups are run by pediatric occupational and physical therapists who specialize in supporting children through play — helping them build confidence, motor skills, social skills, and self-regulation in a warm, supportive environment.

During playgroups, we:

  • Create obstacle courses
  • Paint, glue, and craft (yes, it gets messy!)
  • Work on fine and gross motor skills through games
  • Practice turn-taking, sharing, and following directions
  • Support kids in making friends and feeling successful

You’ll get a front-row seat to all of it — and be part of the magic!

🔎 Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with kids
  • Is studying or interested in a field related to child development (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, etc.)
  • Is friendly, kind, and patient — and has a great sense of humor
  • Is curious about working with kids with diverse abilities and diagnoses
  • Loves to get down on the floor, follow kids’ lead, and play!
  • Thrives in a warm, inclusive, team-oriented environment
  • Is open to learning, mentorship, and hands-on experience from licensed child development professionals

🌟 What You’ll Get

  • Mentorship and guidance from experienced pediatric OTs and PTs
  • Real-world, hands-on experience working with kids of all abilities
  • An inside look at how a non-profit developmental program runs
  • A supportive environment where your ideas and input matter
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference while having a lot of fun!
