GIS Manager/Coordinator

Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Grade: 6 ($64,604.80 - $77,022.40 depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geography, planning, civil engineering, or related field plus two (2) years experience working with GIS and one (1) year supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge and experience with ESRI GIS implementations, enterprise GIS servers, ArcGIS online, SQL, GISP and/or ESRI desktop certifications preferred. Strong cartographic skills, CAD experience, and the ability to interpret engineering and survey drawings and deeds are helpful. Must possess, or be able to obtain, GISP and/or ESRI Desktop Certifications.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Manage, implement, install, customize and maintain City-wide Geographic Information System (GIS), web applications, servers and data software. Provide complete GIS support and technical expertise to all City departments. Perform or coordinate updates to GIS database layers such as parcels, land base, infrastructure, water, sewer, and storm districts. Design, configure and customize user-friendly desktop and web-based applications for spatial City data. Compile spatial reports from City databases such as utility accounts, permits and licenses. Create custom maps for analysis or special projects. Provide technical information and digital data to the general public, contractors, surveyors, engineers, and developers. Coordinate with Maine Office of GIS, MDOT and other regulatory agencies. Link GIS data sets to create new information or report on trends; such as using population growth and planning information to estimate changes in school capacity and other demographic information. Manage GIS-related consultant or technical contracts. Perform other duties, as assigned.
