Job Description:
The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing State of Michigan financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with awarding, reporting, and reconciliation requirements. This role involves monitoring student eligibility, advising on academic standards, and maintaining accurate records. The specialist also oversees scholarship processes, including application review, outreach, and communication with students and the Foundation Office. Additional duties include developing financial aid publications, assisting with student communications, and supporting office-wide campaigns. The position requires a strong understanding of federal and state regulations, confidentiality, and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations. The specialist contributes to the overall success of the Financial Aid Office and participates in college committees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree required in related field
- A minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in an office work environment
- Demonstrate ethical conduct and high level of integrity in all aspects of the work environment
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with internal and external customers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good listening skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three to five years experience in a financial aid office
- PowerFAIDS or Ellucian Colleague experience
